Record Profits While Granny Shivers

In the news today, Exxon Mobil is enjoying record profits. $40.6 billion.

Meanwhile, freaking VENEZUELA is helping more than 200,000 low-income American families in 23 states. By the end of this winter, they will have donated 100 million gallons (worth about $200 million) to struggling families that would have otherwise had to choose between eating and being warm.

Way to go Exxon. I hope your execs choke on their Chteau Petrus and Beluga Caviar while celebrating.

I sadly believe this is the way America will continue for the foreseeable future. Especially the energy corporations while they squeeze every last bit of profit out of a dwindling and disappearing resource.

Kudos to Venezuela.

So...how long before we start funding "freedom fighters" in Venesuela?

Can't have a dirty commie who used strong-armed tactics and mob manipulation to get himself declared "dictator for life" being nicer to our own people than our beloved and benevolant lords and masters, can we?

It's downright embarassing, which is, of course, the point. And it would work too, if the corporatists had the ability to feel shame.

Anyone want to start a betting pool on Chavez' assassination day?

We all know that Chavez is not doing this purely out of the goodness of his heart, but that doesn't matter to the folks that are staying warm this winter.

Exxon could pull $200 million out of their executive couch cushions and help the American poor. Or even better, not charge so damn much so everyone could breathe easier.

Nope. Nothing says excess like.. excess. Hey! It's the 'murican way!
